CHANGE FINALLY IS HERE- PRESIDENT BUHARI

 http://www.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/buhari-pix1.jpg
PRESIDENT MUHAMADU BUHARI being sworn in on May 29th 2015.

Finally President Buhari takes over the mantle of leadership from President Goodluck Jonathan.. The Election this year was the fiercest I have seen since we started this democratic process in 1999.
We had two strong Parties ( PDP and APC). They both had campaign coordinators but the PDP Team headed by Femi Fani-Kayode crossed the line with their hate campaigns. It was really so bad that the Presidents wife, Dame Patience Jonathan asked people to stone anyone chanting the opposition slogan of 'CHANGE'. So during the voting days, the thugs and touts already armed by the Politicians unleashed mayhem and destruction on the citizens and the security agents.

These four human beings Fayose, Okupe, Fani Kayode led the hate campaign against Muhamadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu. They ran TV series on Buhari and Tinubu. They even called the former Governor of Lagos State, the National Leader of the apposition 'The Lion of Boudillion', Jagaban.  I wonder how they came about such tittles. But what I know is that Tinubu had been consistent in leading the opposition in Nigeria. He is not a saint but he has remainedconsistent and relevant.
There were violence almost everywhere that PDP thought they were losing. The worst States were Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Imo, Kogi, Benue and Abia.
Below are some of the horrible attacks on voters and electoral officers by the criminals paid by the Politicians.

One of the issues the ruling PDP was hammering on and probably thought could be used to disqualify General Buhari was his certificates which mysteriously got missing during the electioneering campaign. Cannot believe it that the Army could be bought by the Presidency then to remove the certificates and hide.
It was a real shame when the certificate showed up after General Buhari won the election. Above is the Army officer presenting the certificates that eventually showed up to the Press. This was how far the battle for Aso Rock went. It was fierce and deadly and brutal.
Well we are all looking forward to this CHANGE.
CHANGE from bad Governance to responsive and God fearing Governance. We need Governance with human face. We need Governance that is prudent and accountable. We need Governance that is fair to all.
So far its slow but I pray it will gather momentum in weeks ahead.
There is so much expectation from the People which could be overwhelming but I know this new Leadership is up to task.
There must DELIVER O

Fayose also yesterday blasted Governor Fashola over his comments that democracy was diminished with the election of Fayose in Ekiti State.
Replying through the Director General of the Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation, AFCO, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, Fayose cautioned Fashola to refrain from insulting Ekiti people with his comments on the election.“The governor’s comment that Ekiti people were induced with money to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party is an insult on the entire people of Ekiti State, and we in the PDP will not take lightly to anyone insulting Ekiti people under whatever guise.”
“It is only a hypocritical mind like Fashola that would claim that the results of an election as credible as that of last Saturday was induced by money and that Ayodele Fayose ought not to have been voted for by Ekiti people because he was standing trial for alleged corruption.”
Anisulowo, who reminded Fashola that Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly,  Hon Adeyemi Kuforiji was also standing trial for alleged corruption,  said; “Fashola should first remove the timber in his eyes before talking about the speck in other people’s eyes.
“Therefore, on the Ekiti election, Ekiti people have rejected the APC and its deceitful government and elected their own governor. If Fashola and his ilk are not pleased, they should go to the tribunal instead of insulting the collective intellect of Ekiti people.”

CHANGE IS HERE IN NIGERIA

This year 2015 is Election year in NIGERIA.
The Election started with Presidential Election. Initially it was on the 14th of February 2015, the lovers day but the Federal Government shifted it to 28th March 2015. It was a six weeks shift which did not go down well with a lot of people including the opposition. But the President had the last say on that and pronto it was done.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Buhari-and-Jonathan-e1427914824317.jpg
The main contenders - President Goodluck Jonathan of PDP and General Muhammadu Buhari of the APC

That date eventually came and we all trooped out to perform our civic responsibility.

Prior to the election day, there were political campaigns that were more of war threat than manifesto presentation or pomises. The Presidency came up with this campaign of calumny. The leaders of the opposition were discredited and their image and reputation were tarnished. In fact we had mini nollywood shows. All the lives of the opponents were on display for all to see.

The Presidency had Femi Fani Kayode leading the onslaught followed by Fayose, Okupe, Dokpesi and many others. On the opposition side, they had Lai Mohammed, Amaechi and others.
But the campaign organisation of President Jonathan were more aggressive, audacious and vitriolic in their attacks.

A Governor working for the President by name of Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State took a paid advertisement in the Newspaper to announce the death of the Presidential Candidate of the Opposition party. At every point, he was telling people that General Muhammadu Buhari was going to kick the bucket. I have not seen or heard that type of story before. In our society even when someone is gravely ill, no one dares mention or talk about the person dying. So seeing Fayose daring to proclaim a living person dead, was unbelievable.
Well that was the extend of the campaign this time around.
Infact this election brought out the beast in all NIGERIANS.( Fela)

A Documentary was shown on AIT tittled the Jagaban of Boudillion, Ikoyi. This was Tinubu, the former Governor of Lagos State. This was the last man standing in 2003, when the Former President swept through the South West winning all the States for the ruling PDP party. Bola Tinubu was the only one who survived the hurricane and was re-elected Governor, the second time. It was the same Tinubu who helped Fayemi of Ekiti, Aregbesola of Osun, Oshiomole of Edo and Mimiko of Ondo to reclaim their stolen mandates. He singularly built the qpposition Party in Nigeria to the position of unseating the ruling party.

The All Progressive Congress was not given any chance of survival not to talk about winning election.
Odumbakin and Okupe even predicted that the Party will not last six months from the date of formation. The APC came with the slogan CHANGE and many Nigerians bought into it.

We were ready for CHANGE, were ready to have a say on how we were governed and how our resources were used or squandered in this Country.
Our weapon was and is the PERMANENT VOTERS CARD. So that 28TH March 2015, we trooped out to queue to vote to make that CHANGE.

Cleaner Rewarded With Peanuts

Cleaner who found a missing $12,000 at MMIA gets N7,200 salary increase…. That is the news.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAGZaK79fifw4_jA-M7qWVPSQZkM_sKZQqhaoGsHLxNZytp3cwvAVYa5U055ohBEKZXEdSgf6Rc3GotlsuB4-GnXw3-a0p1ZFPQ5mgt1JQ5YdnK6z13dj5eXdOxlHhMMWf15lH3isoh9Rh/s1600/Josephine-Ugwu-360x360.jpg

This is Josephine Ugwu , the cleaner who works for Patovilki Cleaning Service. The company has the contract by FAAN to keep Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos clean.

This woman has Ordinary National Diploma from Our Savior Institute of Science, Agriculture and Technology, Enugu. Without a job, she is working with this cleaning company earning less than the supposed minimum wage of N18,000 a month. She was earning N7800 when she found a missing USD12,000 at the  Airport. This was on January 23  this year, as she worked, she found the  bag containing large sums of money in different currencies. hear her:
That particular day, I was doing morning shift. As I was cleaning, I saw the bag on the floor where passengers were waiting. Because some passengers were still there, I thought that it belonged to one of them. So, I left it there.
Around 7:20pm when I closed and was about to leave, I saw the bag again still in the same position. I then told the passengers there to take note of the bag so they will not forget. The passengers said it didn’t belong to them. So, I had to take the bag to the security point.

“If I had an intention to steal, I would have taken that bag because I knew it contained money. But I could not do it. That is why I took it to the security point at the airport. After they scanned the bag, the security men then opened it and counted the money. The money was in different currencies. They said it was a total of N12 million.
After sometime, the owner of the bag came to the post to ask for the bag. The security men interrogated him to make sure that he was the owner and when they were satisfied, they gave him the bag. He counted the money again and said it was complete. Then they told him that I was the person who picked the bag. They even told him that he was lucky that I was the one that saw the bag; that if it were some other people, they would not have returned it. The man thanked me and left,” she said.

She returned the money and the man who came back and was given his money intact could not give her a little from it to show his gratitude. What kind of man was that?
Even her colleagues who heard the news were angry with her for returning the money and not getting a thank you reward. Some even said that she threw away God’s blessing.

The woman may not be rich but she values her reputation and that of her company. According to her, there are things money cannot buy:

I have no regret because it is not the first time I would return people’s money. I returned such bags two times in December last year. I was not tempted because they were not mine. The devil will always tempt someone to do what is bad. But I believe in God and what he is capable of doing. So, I trust in him. In fact people have been telling me that by finding the money God had already blessed me but that I did not appreciate what God did for me. If I had taken that money I could have damaged the name of my company, and my family name. It is also about the family I came from. I was taught not to take what does not belong to me.

Her company to show appreciation in March increased her salary to N15,000. They just added N7,200 to what she was earning. What a shame. The Company may be paid N20,000 or more by FAAN per each of those cleaners but the Company will not pay them well but use them as slaves.
Even with the increase the money is still not up to the minimum wage. How can she cope? What does she spend on transportation, food, health, accommodation etc.
This woman has OND and yet cannot find a job that pays above the minimum wage. What kind of a Country is this?
Well thank GOD the wind of CHANGE is here. I pray the lot of people like Josephine will change for the better.

Day 351- SCHOOL GIRLS ABDUCTION

Today Saturday 21 March 2015  is Day 351 since the abduction of Chibok School Girls by the Boko Haram Islamic fighters. This means that in the next 14 days the girls would have been missing for a year.

When the news filtered out that these girls were abducted, most people did not believe it. Even our President did not believe it. This was chorused by his wife, the loud mouth, semi literate Dame Patience Jonathan. If  President Jonathan had believed and had ordered that the rescue operations started immediately, am sure most of the girls if not all would have been rescued. I Feel sad  every time I  think about these abducted teenage girls.

alt

The drama started On April 14 last year, when over 200 girls from the school in Chibok,  Borno State were abducted by the terrorist sect Boko Haram and taken to an unknown location. Initially they said they were taken to Sambisa Forest and some of the girls that escaped confirmed it but our Government did not do anything or act immediately to rescue the girls.  Despite repeated sightings of the girls then in that forest, no rescue team was sent. In fact its reported that security leaks within the Nigerian military  led to Boko Haram repeatedly being tipped off about possible raids which  made rescue of the girls impossible.

Earlier a US intelligence report revealed that Nigerian military commanders leaked plans to rescue the abducted girls to Boko Haram terrorists which ended up botching the operation. According to the details, the rescue mission was leaked to Boko Haram before it could be put into operation, enabling the terrorists to take preventative action.

According to the report, the US sources pulled out from helping Nigeria rescue the missing Chibok girls after Washington located the girls and proposed gassing the areas in the Sambisa Forest and then sending in a raid mission to rescue the girls while their terrorist captors were paralysed asleep.   This plan was communicated in strict confidence to the  Nigeria’s Security Chiefs and was to be kept a secret. But behold the details were leaked to Boko Haram and on its next surveillance flight over the area, the US team saw the Boko Haram terrorists wearing gas masks. What a disappointment

It was not till MALALA Yousef came that our President invited the parents and the escaped girls to Aso Rock, the Presidential Villa for discussion. What a Shame!

When the US left, we kuku_ma went to sleep until the Election. When the Election date was approaching and our President needs the vote from those areas, he shifted the election from 14th February to March 28, a 6 weeks shift so that our Government can fight Boko Haram.

Over the last few weeks,  following the creation of the regional Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF). Made up of  troops from Chad, Cameroon, Niger Republic and Nigeria, the MNJTF has successfully expelled Boko Haram from dozens of towns across northeastern Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon.

So now Government Ministers have held a closed door meeting with the parents of the Girls probably  to brief them on what the the Joint Task Force and the Presidency are doing to rescue their daughters from captivity.
Olawale Rasheed, the special adviser to Minister of State for power, Hon Mohammed Wakil, disclosed this to the press later.

Now Sambisa Forest is cleared but the CHIBOK Girls were not there. Where are the Girls? What has happened to these teenage Girls? Is there hope for their rescue?

With the territory Boko Haram controls shrinking by the day, it is only a matter of time before the MNJTF stumbles on the hideout where Boko Haram is keeping the girls. It is believed that the government decided to meet with their parents to brief them on what the plans were with regards to mounting a rescue mission.

Olawale Rasheed, the special adviser to minister of state for power, Hon Mohammed Wakil, said that the meeting took place in Maiduguri this morning. He added that the federal government, through its representative, told the parents how far it had gone in securing the release of the schoolgirls from captivity.

Re: I'll deliver 2nd Niger Bridge before 2015- Jonathan

I was tidying  and cleaning the house this weekend when I stumbled on an old Nigerian Vanguard Newspaper. The Newspaper was dated Tuesday September 13, 2011.
0n page 11, a particular news titled  ''I'll deliver 2nd Niger Bridge before 2015- Jonathan'' caught my attention. I left what I was doing and read the story again.

The story stated that the day before which was 12th September 2011, President Jonathan received the Ndigbo Leaders led by former Vice President Alex Ekwueme. These elders paid him a courtesy visit for winning the election and  Governor Peter Obi delivered the group's address where he catalogued various needs of the region. The President then used the visit to assure them that his government would ensure the completion of the second Niger Bridge before the end of his tenure in 2015. He said the issue of the second Niger Bridge is to be given adequate attention in the next four years. Below is what he said to the Ndigbo elders:

'' luckily the Coordinating Minister of the economy is here, though the Minister of works, ( Onolemhemhe) is not here but I have already directed the Minister of Works to come up with a plan for us to commence work on the bridge. The Coordinating Minister will take it as one of our priority projects for the next three budget years or so God willing we should deliver the bridge before we conclude by 2015..."
Jonathan Visits The 2nd Niger Bridge In Anambra
2nd Niger Bridge

The President's term is ending in less than 2 months. IN fact if the Election was held as earlier scheduled in February 2015, we would have known if he will be re elected. So for four years, the assurance and promise of delivering the 2nd Niger Bridge and opening up the South Eastern part of Nigeria to more economic activities was not fulfilled. What you see above is the 2nd Niger Bridge as at today the 7th of March 2015. The Bridge is still at the level of excavation, sand-filling and ground breaking.

Amongst the elders that went with Ekwueme, was the former Governor of Anambra, Peter OBI, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. Other members of the delegation include Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives,  Emeka Ihedioha, National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance( APGA) Chief Victor OBI and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnameka Achebe.

The end of the tenure of President Jonathan is few weeks away and the only thing left of that promise is the ground breaking ceremony  that was done last year 2014.
Funny though that the same igbos that had been lied to are the ones campaigning for Jonathan's re-election.

Our Faith and Others

When Libya ended its civil war  few years ago, many within the Country and outside were happy that finally peace has returned to the troubled Nation.
Little did they know that the Battle may have been won but the war is ongoing. The first Country that realised too late that the war is still on despite the death of the former President, Moumar Gaddafi, was America. Their Ambassador was killed when their embassy was attacked. Since then, they had been fighting and attacks almost on a daily basis.

The recent attack and killing is the brutal killing of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians within Libya. The news was on an online site of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant on February 12, 2015. The video showed
photos of  the killing of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians fishermen that  had been kidnapped earlier. They were kidnapped and threatened to be killed to "avenge the alleged kidnapping of Muslim women by the Egyptian Coptic Church".
Those men died and several others are dying in Nigeria, Africa, Europe and middle East because of their Christian Faith. It is really sad.
I believe Religion is a personal thing and each person should be allowed to worship God in peace.

When I was serving during the National Youth Service with the defunct Nigerian Telecommunication limited, (NITEL)  in Kaduna, my boss was a radical Muslim but was accommodating and educated. He was to be a doctor but dropped out of Medical College to go study Management and later Islamic Studies.

We used to discuss a lot about our faith and how it affects our culture, attitude, custom and general outlook in Life.  There  was once he kept the Koran on the table and I wanted to pick it to look through but he quickly took it away.  He told me he cannot allow me touch his Koran because I am a woman but he can buy one for me. I asked why? He said it was personal.

For that one year, we learnt a lot from each other because he was a scholar and was ready to teach and I on the other hand was ready to listen and also share the Good news. We were always disagreeing on the issue of women and dressing but it did not create any tension between us. The other corper we served with was always making fun of us that we love to argue. Well it was not argument, it was getting to know what drives others to do what they do.
Anyway, it was my first time in the North and I tried to get to know the people and their culture. I found out that Their Culture is tied to their religion and that is why its difficult to differentiate between culture and religion. My boss then did not force me to change religion or killed me for not accepting. Infact he loved the discussion and debate. He confessed it during the send off the management organised for all the Corpers.

Religion is to guide and help in knowing one's Creator better. It also helps us in knowing how to relate and help others. Religion is not to be used to destroy, maim or kill. It is only the enemy according to John10:10 that dose that.

I just pray that we live in peace and harmony with one another. Religion should not be the problem or make us enemies rather it should bring us together and make us love and respect each other.
Remain blessed.
